Westpac Altitude Credit Card - $0 1st Year Annual Fee for Existing Customers, 1.25 to 3 Points Per $1 Spent

Westpac Altitude Credit Card - $0 1st Year Annual Fee for Existing Customers, 1.25 to 3 Points Per $1 Spent

Here's how you can earn back 1.5% of all your spending this year in the form of Woolworths gift cards!

For anyone who is an existing Westpac customer, you can now get the Altitude Black Rewards Credit Card for free - $0 annual fee in your first year so just cancel it before you reach your second year!

You get two cards with this - one Mastercard and American Express. The best thing about these cards are the rewards points on every purchase. The points can then be redeemed for Woolworths vouchers.

Here's the breakdown of the points:

1.25 points - Altitude Black World MasterCard® (Australian Merchants
3 points - Altitude Black World MasterCard® (Overseas Merchants)
3 points - Altitude Black American Express Card (Australian Merchants and Overseas Merchants)

They have a range of items you can redeem the points for but I'm sure OzBargainers would rather get cash back so just redeem them for grocery vouchers!

As an example: (https://altituderewards.com.au/public/redeem_product.aspx?de...)
4,000 points ($1,333 spent on American Express card) = $20 voucher
19,800 points ($6,600 spent on American Express card) = $100 voucher

If you calculate the saving, that's cutting 1.5% off EVERYTHING that you spend. Of course, make sure you pay your credit card bills before the due date to avoid the interest!

It's ridiculous how much you can save in just one year. Let's say your household spends (rent, food, bills, entertainment) around $4,000 per month. Over one year, you spend $48,000.
Convert that all into points and then vouchers, and that's 7 x $100 = $700 worth of Woolworths vouchers for the next year!

Mod Edit: Removed "$700+ cashback/1.5% off" from title - spending varies between each individual and points are used to redeem vouchers (NOT cash).

Westpac 55 Day Platinum Credit Card - 20 Months Interest Free Balance Transfer Offer for Existing Card Holders

This promotion showed up in online banking. I'm not sure if it's available to all existing customers. I have made a successful balance transfer over the phone by quoting the promo code.

Things you should know:

All Other criteria, conditions, fees and charges applicable to your account are unchanged. The promotional balance transfer rate is available when you request to transfer balance(s) from up to two non-Westpac Australian issued credit, change or store cards. Westpac Group employees are not eligible for this offer. You must quote or enter the promotional code when you request each balance transfer rate to apply. The promotional balance transfer rate may not be available in conjunction with any other promotion. The promotional balance transfer rate will apply to any balance(s) transferred for the promotional balance transfer period, unless the amount is paid offer earlier. The variable cash advance rate will apply to balance(s) transferred but left unpaid after the end of the promotional balance transfer period. Balance transfer amount(s) must be a minimum of $200. On the date of the balance transfer is debited to your Westpac card account, if your requested transfer amount will exceed 95% of your available credit limit, we will transfer only the amount that will cause your balance to equal 95% of that credit limit. Westpac will not be responsible for any delays that may occur in processing payment to your other card account(S) and will not close your other card account(s). The variable cash advance rate applies to balance transfers requested at any other time. Westpac can refuse any application for a balance transfer. Please note that you will not get the benefit of any interest-free days on purchases unless you pay the closing balance in full (including any balance transfer or any other promotional amount) by the statement due date each month.

Westpac 0% Balance Transfer for 16 Months (No Balance Transfer Fee) + 1% on Purchases for 12 Months + $0/30 Fee 1st & 2nd Year

Westpac currrently have a great offer on their 55 day credit card if you're looking for a balance transfer.

0% p.a. for 16 months on balance transfers requested at card application. No balance transfer fees and up to 95% of your approved limit.
1.00% p.a. on purchases for up to 1 year from card approval.
$0 annual fee in the first year / $30 in second year

Example: $10000 on this card against a 4.2% (home loan offset account) for 16 months works out to be about $500 in savings on interest.
They also seemed to be very generous with their limit. I got a 15k limit while my previous application with another big four bank only offered me 3k.

Westpac - $200 in a Bump Savings Account for Any Australian Child Born in 2017 (Accessible When 16 Years Old)

On our 200th anniversary, every Australian child born in 2017 is eligible for $200 in a Westpac Bump Savings account.

To celebrate our 200th anniversary, if your parents open a Westpac Bump Savings account in your name, we’ll deposit $200 into it – which you can withdraw when you’re 16. In an effort to help ensure the next generation enjoys the same quality of life we do, our Bump Savings account's a good start. Because you may not be with us yet, but we’re proud supporters of you from day one.

The Bump Savings account is available to open from 8 April 2017, so express your interest now.

No Monthly Account Fee
Zero Monthly Service Fee, other fees may apply.

$200 is just the beginning.

By building on an initial $200 deposit at birth with a $20 contribution every week, you'll potentially save approximately $19,000 by the time they turn 16.

For example:
$200 starting point + You put away $20 each week = $19,000 at 1.5%p.a. interest* on their 16th birthday.

To receive the $200 deposit into their Bump Savings account, your child must:

  • Be born in 2017.
  • Have a permanent Australian residential address.
  • Have the Bump Savings account opened in their name by a parent or legal guardian, with their ID verified by 31 May 2018.
  • If your child isn’t eligible for the $200 deposit, they can still open the Bump Savings account once it’s available.
